Dungeon Plungin'

Earlier this month, I was asked if I would mind if someone tinkered with my sci-fi maps, so that they could try and put together a modular tile-set for the Dungeon Plungin' game.

Well, to cut a long story short, to save them the trouble of having to cut out parts of my existing maps, and then try to paste the bits together to get something that looked OK, I instead agreed to do a new set of tiles (in a similar style) that was actually designed to be modular from the outset.

So here's a look at the design I've settled on for this new tile-set:

(this first one is for a simple corner passage)

With any luck I should have the whole set done by the end of the month, and then they'll be freely available on the CSP website and the Dungeon Plungin' forum.

Age Of Shadow v1.0 now online!

I'm pleased to announce that v1.0 of The Age Of Shadow RPG is finally online.

In line with this, the website has had a bit of a makeover, and I've also got a small preview of the upcoming campaign guide avaialble too.

So if you downloaded one of the older draft versions of the main rulebook (the version will be noted at the bottom of the contents page) then please discard that version and download this new one.

And if you're one of the people that actualy checks out the Blog from time to time ...then HERE's an added bonus in the form of a few orc variants to throw at your players :)

Age of Shadow Website Down

I've noticed that the AoS website has not been working properly over the past few days - and I've also been unable to log into the account (so I assume the guys over at freehostia are in the middle of some maintenance).

Unfortunately, this means that I haven't been able to update the website this weekend as I had hoped, but I have managed to upload the site to another page - just as a temporary measure (and to test out the new look).

HERE is the link for anyone who is interested (though this will be taken down once the original site is back up and running).

Age of Shadow Version 1

Sometime next week I hope to have the AoS website updated, and finally have version 1 of the main rulebook available for download. A lot of the changes are pretty minor (correcting typos/grammar/etc. and clarifying a few things) - though some things have altered slightly (for example 'great attack' is now restricted to two-handed weapons).

So if you have an earlier 'draft' version of the book you might like to swing by the website next week and get the latest version (it's still free after all).

(I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Colin Chapman for all of his feedback ...thanks Colin :D )

Here Be Monsters!

A recent post over on the forums finally made me realise that I needed to replace some of the images in the AoS rulebook (the main offenders being the quick sketches in the 'creatures' section).

However, I will be the first to admit that I'm not a great artist (and I don't have the spare cash to commission someone who is), but I've redrawn those images as best as I can, and attempted to give them a kind of 'page torn out of and old bestiary' look:

Admittedly, they're probably not the greatest monster pictures (though I've seen worse :) ) - but hopefully the style is a little more in line with the rest of the book (or at least a step up from the previous biro sketches).

On top of that I've finally completed all of the settlement entries for the AoS Campaign Guide (or at least the first draft of those entries) - though as I have said previously, I've not gone into too much detail with these - and have just written a very brief overview of each. As a quick example of one of the shorter entries here's what I had in mind for the ill fated (vaguely Pompeii-like) settlement of Dolruin:

Dolruin
Region: Ennor
Of what fate befell the ancient city of Dolruin few tales tell, though some there are who claim that a host of demons burst forth from the peaks of mighty Naurdol, and descended upon the city with a great burning fire. Yet once it was a merry place with many resplendent archways and white walls adorned with rich friezes, but now its blackened stones are rumoured to have become the haunt of fell spirits and other unwholesome beasts.

Map-a-Monday (week 1)

From now on I will be posting a new dungeon map on the Blog every Monday.

So without further ado, here's the first one of 2011...
