Tiles of the Dead : Set 1

I'm very pleased to announce the release of CSP's latest tile set:

Tiles of the Dead : Set 1 is the first in a series* of zombie themed map tiles designed for use with 28mm miniatures.

In this particular set you'll find a variety of rooms and corridors that can be used (in numerous different configurations) to represent the interiors of small houses and apartments.

Included in this set are the following:
4 corridors
4 storage areas
3 toilets/bathrooms
3 living rooms
3 bedrooms
2 kitchens
1 dining room
1 home office
5 stair variants
20 small corridor pieces (to create your own custom shapes)
15 door assemblies

In addition, each of the rooms and corridors are also supplied as smaller jpg files** ...making this set equally useful on the virtual table top.

Tiles of the Dead : Set 1 is available for $5.99 from:

*hopefully there'll be a series of these ...so if you have any suggestions of what you'd like to see next, feel free to drop me a line.
**these are supplied in two sizes - the first is scaled at 70 pixels per grid square, the second at 100 pixels per grid square.

  1. How are the doors presented for VTT use?

  2. The doors are supplied as PNG files with transparent backgrounds so that they can be placed on top of any adjoining wall section.

Here's a quick screenshot of them loaded into Roll20 for example:

    I hope that helps :)

  4. Bought it! Excellent work! We want more! When will we see set 2?

A few ideas: Convenience store, mall, army base, laboratory, hospital, police department...

    Thanks!

    1. Set II will definitely materialise at some point in the future, but I have to admit that I've not got anything currently in the works for the Tiles of the Dead range.

There is of course a ton of stuff that I'd like to include in the range myself (like an old fashioned pub ...perhaps a smaller version of something like the 'The Winchester' ;) ) ...but there's also several other projects that I've got half finished (or only just started) that I'd like to complete first.

That being said, it's still good to get as many suggestions as possible - so that when the time comes to sit down and draw some more tiles, I'll have a better idea of what folks would like to see :)

    1. Unfortunately, I've still not started on any new tiles for 'set 2' yet ...so it may be a while before anything like that surfaces (as they did take an awful long time to create) - but I still hope to add to the range a little later on this year.

However, how soon that is kinda depends on how busy I am (for example, all my 'mapping' work this month has consisted of commissions for various people - so I've not been able to expand on any of my own stuff at all ...which is not a complaint - just the way it has worked out :) ).

  6. Hi! I just stumbled on and purchased your Tiles of the Dead from DriveThruRPG.com and think they are great! I really hope you make another set or more. I would purchase them immediately.
I have a question about how you scale your grids. You make them for 28 mm miniatures but approximately how many feet are in a one inch grid square? A lot of maps are 1 inch = 5 feet but yours looks closer to 3 feet or so (which I like). Thanks!

    1. For game purposes I'd probably still use the 5ft = 1 square rule - just for the sake of simplicity. However, as you're probably aware, when you draw maps at that scale, they sometimes look a bit too small for the 'heroic' size of miniatures nowadays. So, in the end, I opted to draw the maps to better match the size of the miniatures (so they are probably closer to 3 or 4 feet per square in that sense) - though you can of course use whatever scale best suits the game that you are playing :)

Thanks for the kind words :)

(Oh and do have plans to get back to the Tiles of the Dead range in the future ...but who knows when that would be :S)
