One Mini Every Week #29

For this week's project I've speed painted a couple of the Reaper Bones spider swarms (though they haven't photographed very well)...

...and now that they're done, I've realised that I probably should have picked out some of the larger spiders in different colours (just to break things up a bit) - plus, I don't think the colour I've used has done them any favours.

Oh well, at least they're painted :)

* * *

And just when I was starting to make a dent in my stockpile of unpainted mini's, these arrived...

...yeah, I may have a problem :) (though I am looking forward to splashing some paint on the new frostgrave gnolls - pictured on the bottom left).

Dungeon Designer Map 3 (Patreon Funded)

As I've mentioned before, I have one extremely generous supporter over on Patreon, who's pledged at the 'dungeon designer' level - but instead of requesting a specific geomorph, they have asked that I simply freestyle a map however I see fit.

So, I've sometimes used that as an opportunity to add another mine geomorph to the collection, while at other times I've just drawn whatever it was that took my fancy.

This time I've taken the latter approach, and tried something a little different...

...and as you can see, this is a departure from my usual style(s), and is my attempt at drawing a small 'crypt' map by hand.

On the whole I'm pleased with how it looks ...and I might even attempt to draw a few more of these :)

One Mini Every Week #28

Another 'Bones' miniature painted for this week's project...

This particular one is their Warg miniature - and, compared to most wolf-like figures, this one is huge (for reference, I've mounted it on an 60mm x 30mm oval base).

(note that I'll be using it as the 'white wolf' from THIS little one-page-dungeon style encounter that I shared a while back)

I've also heard that Reaper have started to change the material they use for the Bones range, and I'm thinking that this might be one of them - as it was more of a greyish colour than the usual bright white ...and it also seems to be a bit more rigid.

Anyway, on the whole, I'd say that this was another great mini from the Reaper Bones line :)

Mine Geomorph #13 (patreon funded)

It's time for another bonus mine geomorph - courtesy of the kind folks supporting me over on patreon...

Note that you can find all of these 'bonus maps' in THIS album over on google plus.

One Mini Every Week #27

Back to painting some reaper bones this week:

This guy is their Ogre Chieftain, and he's probably my favourite of all the 'bones' miniatures that I have painted thus far :)

Now I have to admit, that I've not backed any of their kickstarters (as I've bought all my bones mini's individually) ...but I'm seriously tempted to get in on the next one (that is, assuming there is a next one :) ).

One Mini Every Week #23 to #26

You would be forgiven for thinking that I've given up on my resolution to try and paint at least one miniature every week throughout 2016, as I've not posted anything for a little while.

However, that couldn't be further from the truth - as I've actually been doing a bit of batch painting these past few weeks ...the result of which can be seen below.

(for those that may be interested, week 23 was getting them all assembled, week 24 was priming and basecoating, week 25 was washes and highlights, and week 26 was basing and varnishing)

And, like the skeletons I painted earlier in the year, these are more plastic undead miniatures from Mantic Games (which, I hope you'll agree, are rather nice looking ...well, 'nice' might not be the right word, but you know what I mean :) ).

Anyway, to build this little horde of zombies I've used 3 sprues of their zombie miniatures, and added a bit of variety by mixing them with one additional sprue of ghouls (as both sets are pretty interchangeable).

I've also done a bit of multi-basing on some of them - so that these can represent tougher clusters of zombies - though they'll act as one monster in combat (so a base containing 2 zombies might get double the attacks, and twice as many HP, for example).

Dungeon Monthly #43 (July 2016)

It's the first day of the month ...and that means it's time for another map for the Dungeon Monthly project!

As always, I'd like to thank the good folks supporting the project over on Patreon ...and I'd also like to point out that you can find unlabelled versions of all these maps in the following G+ albums:
